What Is Zakat ?

Zakat, a pillar of Islam, is a compulsory form of charity where Muslims donate a portion (usually 2.5%) of their wealth to help the less fortunate. During Ramadan, the blessings of giving are multiplied, making it an ideal time to fulfill this obligation.

Zakat is charity Muslims give to help the needy. It's compulsory and calculated based on wealth.

During Ramadan, Zakat becomes even more important to spread blessings and help those in need.

How to Calculate Your Zakat

Follow these 6 simple steps to calculate your Zakat correctly.

Step 1: Determine Your Nisab Threshold

The Nisab is the minimum wealth required for Zakat. Check gold/silver market values to see if you qualify.

Step 2: Assess Your Assets

Evaluate your cash, savings, jewelry, business assets, and investments. Exclude personal items like your home.

 Step 3: Deduct Liabilities

Subtract any debts or loans from your total assets. Zakat applies only to the remaining net wealth.

 Step 4: Calculate Zakatable Assets

After calculating your total assets and subtracting any liabilities, you'll have your Zakatable assets. These are the assets used to calculate Zakat.

 Step 5: Calculate Zakat

Donating Sadqa for healthcare helps fund initiatives offering medical care to those in need. This can involve building hospitals, providing equipment, medical treatments for lasting impact.

Step 6: Pay Zakat

Once you've calculated your Zakat, the last step is to pay it to those in need. You can give directly to eligible recipients or contribute to trustworthy organizations that manage Zakat distribution.
